So i have the machine up and running now. It sees both the sata drives that i have in that machine, and it is running an ftp server. The OS? puppy linux. Yes the smallest and usb based linux distro is what is running the biggest computer in my house. Its old hardware though and i was tired of fighting it, so i am going to be using my mac book pro as a jump off point to that machine. I will download everything i want to put on those storage drives onto the mac, then ftp it over to the big box. Only thing i am worrying about is when i get these drives full and i can finally upgrade to better hardware, i just hope i am able to find a solution where i can not lose the data off these drives. One more thing i want to do, get a usb to dvi adapter for my macbook pro so i can use both my 22″ monitors with it. More later.

So i have a desktop that i built about 4 years ago. It has been a great machine that i have tried alot of operating systems with. I have been having trouble lately though getting an os to load on it and be stable. I have tried the newest ubuntu, fedora, fedora 10, freebsd, freenas, windows xp, windows server 2003 and none of them are stable. Between app crashes, it losing my drives and everything else i have come to the point where i think i am going to let it sit for a couple of days before messing with it again. I wish i had the money to be able to get a new motherboard, cpu, and ram for it. Everything else is definitly usable with the new parts. I just need to replace those and then i will be good to go again. oh well. Im another computer down and we will see how long this is going to be.

it did in fact snow. I snowed pretty good off and on for most of the afternoon, i think total we got about 2 inches. The ground was so warm though that it only really stuck to roofs and grass. It was beautiful to watch and i really wish it would have snowed more, but i cant control it so oh well.

Man for the 4th or 5th time this year they are talking about it snowing here. This is crazy and i love it. I hope it snows like hell tomorrow. I saw some great snow still on the ground in dallas two weekends ago, maybe itll stick around here tomorrow. Anyway we shall see. I need to refocus on school as my grades and stance in classes is suffering heavily. So more posts on that coming up.

My first ham radio was a hand held. The local repeater was about a quater mile from my apartment at 300 feet so it was great. I could work it whenever i wanted. There weren’t many people on that repeater, but now i have a mobile in my truck that i also tot into my house, so i can work the local network of repeaters around the Houston area. I really enjoy the hobby, and the people i meet in this hobby.

Spent the afternoon updating all my boxes at home and then had to do some updating of a couple of servers in Dallas and a few company websites. I actually feel productive today.

Well its been a while since ive posted anything on this site. I havent had a break since two weekends ago. Not complaining just stating a fact. Had school all last week which with homework and everything else going on calls for a weekend, except we spent the weekend in Dallas (Plano) hanging out with Meagans family and i did some work for her dads company. And got back at 1am monday morning and back to life here. This weekend is going to be busy but i really cant post it all until after it happens…youll understand when i post what happens.
