About Me
Well in case anyone was ever interested in me you’ve come to the right page. My name is Eric Deering, i am currently attending Sam Houston State University studying computer science, criminal justice, and digital forensics. I have many hobbies, most of which i am sure you have already guessed are related to electronics. I am a Amateur (ham) radio operator, call sign is KE5YOT. I am studying for my general, then my extra beyond that. I have a dual band icom D-star rig in my pickup (pics will be up on my truck page soon if they arent already) and i have a Yeasu dual band handheld ft-60r for when im not in the pickup.
I am also a linux advocate and user. Really anything not microsoft as i have a macbook pro that i love too. The main distros i use are Fedora and Centos, i am working on getting some of my packages submitted into the fedora world, but i am easily distracted. I also enjoy working on code for personal projects or my many projects for my classes. I have written some programs in C that help with conversions and database management. I have also written some chessy games in java, one of which i wrote in high school. Its a pong variant but i added some random modes where the ball will change direction and speed based on the mode set, which is changed at random times and lasts for random times. Its a neat addition, or atleast i think so.
Another hobby of mine that takes of more time is being a volunteer firefighter. I am a member of two local VFDs, both of which usually go on the same calls so its more of a numbers thing than anything else for being a member of both departments.
